Group C Draw Recap: Group Stage to Show How Far Brazil Can Go
Seleção to face test but should top Group C
Brazil along with the rest of the world, found out what group Seleção would be playing in come the 2026 FIFA World Cup and largely, the South American giants should be feeling good ahead of the tournament.
Seleção will be joined by Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
“We have great respect for our group opponents, who are strong teams,” Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “Morocco did very well in the 2022 World Cup, they are still in good form, have had good results in recent games and have a solid and well-organized team, as do Scotland and Haiti, who deserve the same respect.”
Morocco will provide the biggest test and one of the most up-and-coming nations in Africa. They are currently ranked 11th in the world and boast top players such as Achraf Hakimi, Brahim Diaz, Hakim Ziyech, Youssef En-Nesyri, Sofyan Amrabat, and more. The African nation recently won the U-20 World Cup, defeating Argentina.
But outside of the Atlas Lions, Brazil should breeze through the rest of the group. While Scotland captured hearts everywhere with its qualification efforts in Europe, it will take a prime Scott McTominay masterclass to get them into the top two spots. Haiti will likely struggle even more.
While far from the easiest group in the tournament, Brazilians should be feeling good with who Seleção ended up being paired with. While far from being among its most talented squads, if Brazil can perform well against Morocco it will be a statement of intent that they can be contenders in the tournament.
