Former RIFC Defender Signs with South Georgia Tormenta FC for 2025
Gabriel Alves joins the USL League 1 side as they look to improve ahead of the new season.
South Georgia Tormenta FC have announced the signing of defender Gabriel Alves as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 season, pending approval from the league and federation.
Alves, a Marshall University alum who played for the Herd from 2020 to 2022, joins the League 1 side following a historic season with Rhode Island FC that culminated in a Championship appearance.
After signing with Rhode Island FC for their inaugural season, Alves played sixteen games for the Eastern Conference Champions, putting on solid performances before ultimately being sidelined due to injury.
Between injury and the building of a roster with impressive depth, Alves unfortunately found himself the odd man out of RIFC’s squad and ultimately had his option declined in the postseason allowing him to sign elsewhere.
Tormenta FC went 4-8-10 in the 2024 season, finishing in tenth place. They will kick off their 2025 campaign with a three-game home stand beginning on Saturday, March 8.
