Earl Edwards Jr. Signs Contract Extension With Revolution
The veteran goalkeeper will return to Foxboro for his fourth season
The New England Revolution announced Saturday that they've signed Earl Edwards Jr. to a contract extension through the 2024 season. The extension also includes a one-year team option for the 2025 season.
“Earl is a talented and dependable goalkeeper who brings leadership to our club on the field and in the locker room,” Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. “With Earl’s experience in our league and abilities as a goalkeeper, his continued presence in New England will be an asset to the Revolution.”
After originally signing with the Revolution before the 2021 season, Edwards Jr. was scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season. He has made 10 appearances for the Revolution across all competitions, which includes the MLS regular season, CONCACAF Champions League, and Leagues Cup. He has a 5-4-1 record with two clean sheets.
Edwards Jr. is expected to compete for the primary backup job behind Tomas Vaclik, who was officially signed by the Revolution earlier on Saturday.
