Djordje Petrovic Eligible To Play Against Querétaro
Petrovic could play on Monday after missing Thursday's game against Atlas.
Djordje Petrovic is “eligible to play” against Querétaro FC, according to New England Revolution assistant coach Richie Williams.
While he did take part in goalkeeping drills, Petrovic was not a full participant in training in the days leading up to Thursday’s match against Atlas FC. The 23-year-old ultimately wasn’t a member of the game-day roster for the shootout victory.
The netminder has been practicing full the last two days and is an option for Monday’s Round of 16 game
“He is eligible to play,” Williams told media on Sunday. “We’ve had very positive conversations with Djordje. Djordje is in a great place right now and he’s available for selection for tomorrow’s game. We’ll see when the game starts, who is going to be in goal.”
Earl Edwards Jr. was in net when the Revs defeated Atlas. The experienced goalkeeper looked good, making six stops during regulation time.
Of course, Petrovic is one of the best goalkeepers in Major League Soccer. From all accounts, he’s performed well the last couple of days.
“Djordje, he’s looked great. He’s happy,” Andrew Farrell said. “He’s made some big saves like he aways does in games, as in practice. We’re just happy that he’s out here and enjoying himself.”
Hope the news that Matt Turner got the Forest job doesn't set this back a notch!
