Boston Legacy FC Signs Boston College Senior
And another former Vermont Green FC player joins the pro ranks!
With only a few months left until the season starts, Boston Legacy FC continues to slowly unveil its roster and has announced its first local college player signing.
Boston College senior Sophia Lowenberg will be on a two-year contract with a club option for an additional year.
“I’m excited that it’s a new team so that I can really feel part of the whole entire journey,” Lowenberg said. “Along with just remaining in Boston - I’m from Connecticut, which is down the road - and then also going to Boston College, continuing to play in Boston will be a great experience.”
Lowenberg is from Trumbull, Connecticut and grew up around the youth soccer scene. She was part of the ECNL’s Connecticut Football Club and played four years of varsity soccer at Trumbull High School.
The New Englander played four seasons as an attacking midfielder and center back at Boston College, appearing in a total of 67 games. During the 2025 season, she started in 16 games and recorded a career high of three goals as well as one assist.
In June, Lowenberg made the roster for the Vermont Green FC women’s team (coached by Sam Mewis), which played two exhibition matches. She started both games and was named Woman of the Match in the first game after scoring a goal from over 30 yards out.
“Sophia is a player with real potential, and we’re looking forward to supporting her growth as she takes this next step,” said BLFC general manager Domè Guasch. “She brings the character, ambition, and work ethic we value in our environment. As a New Englander and an upcoming Boston College alum, she already understands this community, and we’re excited to have her continue her journey in Boston as part of Boston Legacy FC.”
