Two matches into the 2026 MLS season, the New England Revolution attack has been relatively nonexistent.

New England has only scored one goal and has lost the possession battle in both matches. Additionally, the Revs have only mustered four shots on target in 180 minutes of soccer.

"They’re very aggressive on the front foot and defending," Mitrovic said of New York. "We knew that space would be open. I know that in the second half, we had better situations. If you go back and watch the game, we had three amazing transitional moments in the first half where we just lacked the pass to get in a great goal-scoring situation. As I said, it’s very difficult to sustain that intensity with what New York Red Bull is doing. We knew that as long as the game goes, we would have more and more space for us.”

Uncharacteristically, Carles Gil was one of those players that was struggling to connect with his teammates. Gil only completed 67 percent of his total passes and long balls.

There were moments where Gil looked to jumpstart the attack similar to how he did against Nashville but his passes were just a few feet too far for his teammates.

Additionally, Dor Turgeman showed improvement playing up top rather than on the wing. He got on the ball more (34 touches) but still couldn't find the back of the net. Turgeman's two shots registered a measly 0.09 xG.

After Griffin Yow said that the Revolution needed to be more patient in the attack after New England's loss to Nashville, Brooklyn Raines believes similar and noted that the Revs attack looked promising against New York.

“I can’t speak for everyone on the team, but kind of like Griffin [Yow] said, it’s our patience versus their patience," Raines said postgame. "Who is going to break first? Today, we had a few opportunities. We were getting in behind them. We put in good crosses and good chances, and I think it’s just, again, that bit of luck in the final third. It’s not like we’re not getting opportunities or not having shots on goal. It’s just getting in the box and finishing.”

New England is looking more like a team with a defined style. The press looked good but the Revs just couldn't put the final product together.

There are definitley positives to take but after two difficult seasons, Revolution fans want the team taking three points; not just noticing gradual growth.
