When you are the most expensive acquisition in a club's history, there can be a lot of pressure. With the New England Revolutionhat-trick securing the club's first win of the 2026 season, Luca Langoni appears to be finding his form.
Langoni recorded a hat-trick of assists in New England's 6-1 win over FC Cincinnati. Additionally, he completed 28 of his 30 pass attempts and recorded 46 touches.

Langoni became just the second player in club history to tally three assists in a single game. It is a testament to how well he performed in the 2026 home opener.
“Luca [Langoni] has quality, including his strength to provide those runs from the back, and his speed with or without the ball," head coach Marko Mitrovic said after the match. "One of my tasks, when I came to the club, was how we can get Luca in more of those situations. It's not just Luca running behind, it's how well we can time his runs, and how he can also repeat those runs, doing it in the right way at the right time. Today, he was better, but I still believe that Luca can be more threatening from behind with his pace, with and without the ball."
The performance against Cincy was one of Langoni's best in a Revolution uniform. It comes as he started the season on the bench and has largely to live up to the expectations of the price tag associated with his transfer.
Langoni is making quite the case that he should become a fixture of the starting XI. While this is largely great news, it does present a quandary for Mitrovic. When Leo Campana is healthy, either the Ecuadorian or Dor Turgeman will be forced to sit on the bench. With Turgeman racking up goals after a disappointing start to the season, Campana could be relegated to a bench role after New England spent $2 million to acquire him.
But Langoni's ability to defend and his speed make him a valuable asset. If he can continue to be impactful, the Revolution will start to climb in the standings and be a difficult team to beat in 2026.
