Boston Legacy FC has acquired Olympic gold medalist Nichelle Prince from the Kansas City Current.

The Current received $125,000 in allocation funds and $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds in return for Prince’s player rights and a 2026 international roster spot.

Prince joined KC in 2024 and contributed two goals and two assists in 13 regular-season appearances. This past season, the forward helped her team win the 2025 NWSL Shield and had one goal and an assist in 21 games.

The Canadian was the 28th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL college draft and was selected by the Dash. She spent seven seasons in Houston before being traded to KC. During that time, Prince scored 12 goals in 88 appearances.

“Nichelle is a proven NWSL player who brings real quality and experience to our group. She’s competed at the highest level and knows what it takes to win, both in this league and internationally with Canada,” said Legacy general manager Domè Guasch. “She adds pace, intelligence, and versatility, and we believe her profile fits exactly what we want to build in Boston. Just as important, Nichelle is a strong presence off the field, someone who will raise standards and help drive our culture from day one and into the future.”

The 30-year-old hails from Ajax, Ontario and has been part of Canada’s national teams since she was 15. She made her senior team debut at the age of 17 and has since recorded 17 goals and 14 assists across 113 appearances.

Prince won a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, then a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She’s represented Canada in three Olympic tournaments and the last two World Cups.

Prince is the third Canadian to sign for the team, joining Amanda Allen and Bianca St-Georges.
