Vermont Green FC fans have been treated to plenty of good news as of late.
Firstly, Chris Taylor will be returning as head coach for the 2026 USL League Two season. This season will be Taylor's fifth in Burlington and second as head coach.
“I’m excited to return to Vermont Green for my fifth season with the club and my second as Head Coach,” said Taylor in a statement. “Last season we achieved every goal that we set for ourselves in what was a truly unforgettable summer. We know the target is on our backs now and the pressure is higher than ever, but we are excited by this. My connection with the club, the fans and the community is stronger than ever.”
Taylor holds a UEFA B License and is currently enrolled to earn a UEFA A License, which he is set to complete before the USL2 season begins in May.
Along with the news of Taylor's return, two Vermont Green FC players have moved up the soccer pyramid. After spending the season with Rapids 2, Sydney Wathuta signed a first-team contract with the Colorado Rapids.
During the 2025 regular season, Wathuta made 18 appearances, recording six goals and four assists. In the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, he added two assists in four appearances.
Prior to turning professional, Wathuta spent two seasons at the University of Vermont, winning a national championship in 2024. Over his collegiate career, he made 39 appearances and scored three goals and 15 assists. Wathuta started both of the Green's 2024 U.S. Open Cup games.
Additionally, 2025 USL League Two champion Rui Aoki signed a contract with Columbus Crew 2.
