We don't need this, it will not make us more competitive, however I love the idea of having him back! This feels like a weak attempt at fan service from Onalfo, and having Turner in net will sell tickets which is clearly all the Krafts care about at this point so they can justify spending on a soccer specific stadium. Too bad we sold off all of the youth we developed and are stuck with the mediocre garbage Porter and Onalfo dragged in.

I'm viewing this as a super long term move...assuming the Revs pick up the purchase option after the World Cup, you're looking at an early 30's Turner as your GK for like 5+ years until he retires probably. Get him back playing, get him in form for next summer and we'll check in again then.

Yeah and with the way we are playing he will get lots and lots of practice.

Tom was sort of talking like this on the soccerwise stream. Basically saying maybe Turner wants a stable spot and ride it out for the remainder of his career and perhaps the revs get a decent deal to get him off the books for Lyon

Is there anything more convulted than all the financial arrangements in soccer? Yikes.

This one in particular was triple convoluted, and that was before we get into the MLS salary cap stuff. The league has done well to give us more information and those links are helpful, but yeah, it's still complicated even if we did know all the numbers.

Jake, why was it set up to be so complex? Is it because there are so many different levels/countries? Thanks for all you do.

Salary caps are practically unheard of in soccer, so MLS has it's own unique issues than everyone else. France had some issues at the start of last year with broadcast/media rights and it cause a lot of teams to end up in the red. But it's incredibly rare to hear of a team trying to cancel a completed transfer because FIFA and contract lawyers would have a field day...the loan the best way for Lyon to move on from what their current GM thinks is a bad deal the old GM made.

I wondered why France as a whole was in a bind. Thanks for the explanation.

This is dumb. Why aren't we addressing what really ails this team? It's so maddening. Now Ivacic is probably P.o'd as well. What the hell are they doing?
