I will probably be in the minority on this, while he sounds like a fantastic individual, I just don't enjoy his commentary. With all the talent available across the league and enjoying them while manipulating the blackouts via VPN the past few seasons (and watching other MLS teams), there are better commentators (and more objective ones) than Brad.
Charlie on the other hand I'm surprised was not picked up for an analyst role, he seems knowledgeable on the whole league due to his work with MLS' videos on YouTube.
I don't actually know that you're in the minority, and I respect your opinion, but I gotta disagree in that local broadcasters can absolutely be biased. If he was a national guy doing a variety of different teams then I would be right there with you. But he's the Revs' play-by-play guy. I think, in that sense, you're allowed to be biased, and even encouraged.
I agree. It's a weird dogma, to me, that local guys can't be biased, and it doesn't really seem to be consistently applied. Nobody complains during national team games when there's always an obvious US bias.
I think showing you know the team and history is fine. Many times Brad has tried to argue against calls that were clearly the right call. That’s where I draw the line.
*Raises hand* I complain about US Soccer bias too. I just tend not to voice it on the internet as much because I'm too busy trying to not throw my phone.
My complaint when it comes to US bias isn't "rooting for the home team" which I appreciate in either case, but actual disrespect and xenophobia, not bothering to make a solid effort on names, acting like smaller countries are just by definition unworthy…
I get the bias can be encouraged for a local team, to get those that are watching engaged and resonate because they (the viewers) are local. I hope he gets the radio side, then he can still call the Revs games for those that do enjoy his style.
I get where you're coming from but I don't really agree. Yea, he often picks the home team's side but there are *constantly* disagreements about what the right call is. Charlie sometimes seems to pick the harsher call almost for the sake of not being a homer, even when the video clearly shows he's wrong. I think sometimes they riff off each other in that way too. And that's ok. Creates discussion.
I always thought Brad and Charlie didn’t really like each other outside the booth. Sometimes the dialog felt contentious. Maybe I’m reading into that too much
I never tried radio audio with video because I'd have to stream both and it's just a logistics nightmare, plus bandwidth issues. If Apple lets you choose in one spot, that's a big feature add IMO

I'm right there with you on those points you brought up.
I've been spoiled by Derek Rae for too long and the work he does to get every pronunciation right.

I agree with you. He clearly loves the revs and IMO was very biased towards them.

Oh wow that ability to select home radio audio is cool though. Hope it's Brad and Charlie!!!
Hope so as well, will be interesting how it ends up working out regarding how well the synching will be between video and radio audio
