Sorry but I think a goal of "making the playoffs" is a low bar in this league. Squeaking into the playoffs and getting eliminated in the first round is not a successful season in my book but that would probably be enough to ensure Porter and On-awful keep their jobs for another year, unfortunately.
So was he lying to us then or lying to us now? This guy has more faces than a Kardashian. I want for the team to be successful and I do like some of the roster moves but he makes it hard to be a believer.
Throwing players under the bus all the time doesn't help. It took you a year to take some of the blame of the failure of 2024. You are a hard person to put any trust in.
As much as I don’t want to defend Caleb, the team and players had clear issues and weaknesses long before he arrived. I wish Porter was more fluid in his tactics and adapted to the players he had last year, but I can’t help but feel like on paper our team is stronger this year.
Either way, I can see where he’s coming from and he clearly knows that if he doesn’t make something work with this roster he’s in trouble here. I feel more confident that a replacement coach would be able to do something with this group than I did last year, though.
That center-back position is the biggest unknown and the biggest risk. If they got that right, then I think the ceiling is very high for this team. If not, ... last year all over again.
