With 10 days to go until the United States begins its 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup run, Thursday saw head coach Mauricio Pochettino announce his roster for the tournament.
Due to a combination of rest, injury, and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, some familiar faces will not be a part of the Gold Cup squad. Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, and others were expected to be out, but Thursday’s announcement saw Sergiño Dest left off the roster
After evaluating Dest throughout the week, USMNT staff believed giving the PSV defender a chance to recover and prepare for next season with the Dutch club was the best decision.
The Argentine coach will bring three keepers to the Gold Cup as former Rev and Crystal Palace’s Matt Turner, NYCFC’s Matt Freese, and Chicago’s Chris Brady will form the goalkeeping trio.
Columbus’ Max Arfsten, Orlando’s Alex Freeman, Philadelphia’s Nathan Harriel, Toulouse’s Mark McKenzie, Charlotte’s Tim Ream, Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards, Cincinnati’s Miles Robinson, Holstein Kiel’s John Tolkin, and Nashville’s Walker Zimmerman will be the nine players forming the United States’ defense.

Utrecht’s Paxten Aaronson, Charlotte’s Patrick Agyemang, Köln’s Damion Downs, Vancouver’s Brian White, and Coventry’s Haji Wright will be the five players in the U.S. attack.
