Ugandan International Allan Oyirwoth Almost Collects Assist In MLS Debut
The 18-year-could've had a secondary assist against the Fire.
18-year-old Allan Oyirwoth made his MLS debut on Saturday, looking comfortable in his 21 minutes against the Chicago Fire.
The midfielder, who replaced Jackson Yueill, entered with the Revs down 3-0 in a must-win game.
The visitors made a late comeback as Peyton Miller scored on a forward run in the 78th minute and Carles Gil converted from the spot in stoppage time.
Oyirwoth almost had a secondary assist on an equalizer, but Chris Brady made a critical save on Tomas Chancalay’s header.
The Ugandan international finished the night with 23 touches, three recoveries, and one chance created. He was 19/21 on accurate passes and 3/3 on accurate long balls.
“I thought he showed his range, his athleticism, his ability on the ball,” Porter said. “He’s a young, talented player with a huge upside and a bright future. He’s 18 years old, and I’m glad to give him his league debut; he deserved that.”
Oyirwoth joined the Revs on a first-team contract ahead of the 2025 season, though he’s mostly seen time with the second team. In sum, he’s logged 1052 minutes across 12 appearances (all starts).
His goal on April 26th was particularly notable.
While Oyirwoth did play for the first team during the U.S. Open Cup (two starts), getting league minutes is an important milestone for a promising player.
“He has great potential,” Peyton Miller said. “I’m very proud of him. He puts in the work day in and day out in training, so I’m very proud of him.”
