Why shouldn’t we have one of the top coaches in the world? The answer has to be that the USSF either can’t make that hire or doesn’t want to (the latter in my opinion, especially after Jesse Marsch’s comments).
Berhalter got us through the group in the last WC, only to get technically schooled by Holland. That’s his ceiling. Even if we had clawed by last night, we weren’t really getting much farther. We are stalled, despite having some reasonable talent.
