Revolution Trade Olger Escobar's Homegrown Priority Rights to CF Montreal
The Revolution II forward heads to Montreal following seven years with the organization.
The New England Revolution received an influx of cash Thursday morning when the club traded Revolution II forward Olger Escobar’s Homegrown Priority Rights to CF Montreal in exchange for $125,000 in General Allocation Money.
The deal for Escobar includes up to an additional $50,000 in GAM, and the Revs retain an unknown percentage of a future sale.
After acquiring Escobar, Montreal immediately signed him to an MLS deal through the 2026 season with options for the 2027, 2028, and 2029 seasons.
CF Montreal president and chief executive officer Gabriel Gervais expressed his excitement for the move.
"We are pleased to welcome Olger to our Club,” Gervais said. “He is a high-potential, creative player with great offensive flair and technical ability."
His time in New England saw him rise through the ranks of the Revs Academy before joining MLS NEXT Pro side Revolution II. The forward tallied a goal and an assist over 33 appearances for the club.
His time in New England led to a meteoric rise at the international level. Escobar appeared in 22 matches for Guatemala at the U-17, U-18, and U-20 levels and tallied 13 goals and seven assists. Escobar also has seven caps with the Guatemalan National Team, where he tallied one goal and two assists.
Hate to see Olger go, but happy for him to be able to expand his future. With Porter here he wouldn't have a chance to go anywhere. Good luck Olger.
Good luck, Olger! We will be rooting for you against every team, (except NE.)
