Revolution Legends Discuss Alumni Night, Growth of MLS, And State Of The Revs

The New England Revolution held their first-ever Alumni Night on Saturday to celebrate the club’s 30th anniversary.
It was a special moment for the twenty players who attended, as well as diehard supporters, some of whom have been in the stands since 1996.
Lines were long—though they moved quickly—as fans looked to take a photo, snag an autograph, or share a memory. Alexi Lalas spoke to a pair of fans who first met him during the early years of Major League Soccer.
Matt Reis smiled when asked what it was like to once again speak to the people who fervently dreamed of a team of Matt Reis.
“Being a sports person in Boston, I don’t think it gets any better than that,” Reis said. “They’re such knowledgeable fans and such great people. It’s great to see them, and there are a lot of faces I’ve seen since the beginning.”
Revolution Relationships
Bringing in twenty players from different generations made for a fun atmosphere, though it didn’t come without sacrifice. Daigo Kobayashi flew 14 hours while Gustavo Bou flew 12.
For them, it was worth it, as they got to reconnect with the club and the many people tied to it.
