Revolution II Suffer First Loss of 2025 Season
A late goal for Orlando City B snapped Revs II shutout and unbeaten streaks.
Wednesday saw New England Revolution II look to continue their hot start to the 2025 season as they traveled to Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida, to face Orlando City B in Revs II’s first road outing of the new season.
Head coach Richie Williams made three changes from March 28th’s meeting with Toronto FC II that saw Revs II secure a commanding 4-0 victory. SuperDraft pick Donovan Parisian got a second consecutive start in goal as he sat behind the backline of Hesron Barry, Victor Souza, Gabe Dahlin, and Damario McIntosh. Gevork Diarbian, Eric Klein, and Allan Oyirwoth comprised the midfield, while Marcos Dias, Liam Butts, and Alex Monis were the attacking trio up top.
Parisian came up huge for Revolution II in the 11th minute. After creating a counterattack opportunity in the midfield due to a turnover, Jhon Solis ran centrally before cutting the ball to Gustavo Caraballo on the left. Caraballo attempted to curl a left-footed shot to the far post, but Parisian was there to get his hands to the shot.
A deflected ball nearly paid dividends for Revs II in the 24th minute. After getting the ball and driving down the left flank, Diarbian attempted to slot a pass across the face of goal that clipped off the heel of an OCB defender and into the path of Dias. The striker tried to slot the deflection of way, but his shot lacked accuracy as it sailed wide of goal.
Butts came close to giving Revolution II the lead in the 56th minute. After receiving Diarbian’s pass, Butts rocketed a shot from a tight angle that forced Otero to stretch out and deflect away from danger.
Richie Williams’ first substitutions came in the 61st minute as Olger Escobar and Damorney Hutchinson replaced Butts and Diarbian.
Orlando’s Dyson Clapier entered the book in the 58th minute after receiving a yellow card for fouling Monis. Orlando’s Tahir Reid-Brown later entered the book with a yellow card in the 62nd minute after fouling Damario McIntosh.
Hutchinson came close to giving Revs II the lead in the 71st minute. After Escobar forced the turnover, Hutchinson got onto the ball and attempted to slot the ball into the bottom-right corner. The striker’s shot forced Otero to dive down and deflect the ball away.
After holding their opposition scoreless for a whopping 376 minutes, Revolution II’s shutout streak came to an unfortunate end in the 81st minute. After getting the ball in the middle third, Shawn Platts sent a beautiful ball forward as Shak Mohammed sprinted past the Revs II defense and onto the ball. Parisian advanced, looking to get a stop on it, but Mohammed snuck it past the keeper to put OCB up 1-0. It marked the first time Revolution II had conceded a goal since the 73rd minute of their 3-1 loss to Columbus Crew 2 on October 6, 2024.
Revolution II’s final change saw 16-year-old Judah Siqueira make his professional debut as he replaced Klein in the 88th minute.
Despite the effort, Revolution II couldn't bounce back as their winless streak on the road extended to 15 matches as Orlando City B secured the 1-0 victory at home.
Revolution II will have another extended break as their next match doesn’t come until April 23, when they host Columbus Crew 2 inside Gillette Stadium.
