Midfielder Alba Caño is set to leave FC Barcelona and join Boston Legacy FC on a two-year contract, according to reports from Spanish newspapers.
The 21-year-old joined Barça’s youth system in 2018, starting with the U-19 team (Barcelona Juvenil). Over the years, she moved up the ranks to Barcelona B and was named captain. She led her team to two league titles.
Caño was also a reserve player for the first team, making her debut in November 2022 and earned more minutes this past season. Her time with the senior team ended with one goal and a total of 16 first-team appearances, as well as some hardware from winning the Spanish Super Cup, Queen’s Cup, and league title.
Caño was one of nine members who were the first female residents of La Masia, Barça’s famed youth academy, in 2021. The midfielder was called up for the Catalonia national team in June for a match against Chile.
