Record Number of Vermont Green FC Players Selected in 2026 MLS SuperDraft
Numerous championship-winning players were drafted by MLS sides
It was a successful and exciting 2026 MLS SuperDraft for Vermont Green FC fans as five current and former players heard their names called.
Enzo Dovlo was the first player selected, drafted 12th overall by Atlanta United. Dovlo had an impressive season with the University of North Carolina (Greensboro) as he scored 10 goals and eight assists in 23 games played.
Next up was Niklas Herceg who was selected 16th overall by FC Dallas. Herceg appeared in 20 games and recorded 10 shutouts and boasted a goals against average of 0.74.
Then in the second round, Ayoub Lajhar was selected by FC Cincinnati. He played 16 games for the UCONN Huskies in 2025 and the Vermont native scored a goal and six assists.
Finally, in the third round, three Green alumni were selected. D.C. United drafted Stephane Njike with the first pick of the third round. The forward is coming off a stellar season with Maryland, where he played 18 games for the Terrapins and scored seven goals and seven assists.
Herceg was not the only goalkeeper drafted as Jahiem Wickham was taken by Charlotte FC. Wickham played 17 games for the University of South Florida and recorded three shutouts and had a goals against average of 1.47.
The last player selected in the entire draft and out of the Vermont Green alumni was Maximillian Kissel. The clutch striker was drafted 90th overall by Inter Miami. Kissel played 15 games and scored five goals and four assists for the Catamounts.
