Recap: Revolution II Keep Hot Streak Alive
Another hot performance from Revs II leads to its fourth consecutive win and pushes their undefeated streak to five games!
Richie Williams and New England Revolution II returned to action on Wednesday morning as the club took the field at Gillette Stadium looking to expand their undefeated run and secure their fourth-consecutive victory.
Wednesday’s lineup saw zero changes from their July 20 outing against Orlando City B, which saw Revs II secure a commanding 3-0 victory at home. Donovan Parisian returned in between the pipes behind the backline of Hesron Barry, Victor Souza, Gabe Dahlin, and Damario McIntosh. Marcos Dias, Allan Oyirwoth, and Eric Klein formed the midfield three behind the attacking trio of Gevork Diarbian, Liam Butts, and Malcolm Fry.
Things got off to a hot start for New England just two minutes into the game as Kaiden Moore took Marcos Dias down inside the box to award Revs II a crucial penalty early. Dias was the one to step up to the spot as he drilled the ball into the bottom-right corner to put New England up early.
Things only got better for New England in the 11th minute. A poor turnover in their defensive half led Butts to intercept a pass and slot it forward to Fry. Despite being in an awkward position, Fry slotted it past Jonathan Ransom to double New England’s lead.
After helping set up the second goal, Butts found one of his own in the 25th minute. Another turnover from Atlanta led Fry to intercept and get the ball to Dias. The striker drove toward net and cut the ball centrally to Butts who got on the end of Dias' pass and slotted it home to give New England a 3-0 lead.
Dias’ efforts on the goal notched him his 15th career assist with Revolution II. He’s now tied alongside former midfielder Jake Rozhansky for the most assists in club history.
Butts came close to adding a second goal to his tally in the 55th minute. After driving down the right flank, Damorney Hutchinson generated some space and cut the ball centrally to Butts. He attempted to slot it to the left side of the net, but put too much on it as it curled wide of goal.
It was another solid outing for Revolution II, who walked away with a 3-0 victory to extend their unbeaten run to five matches while notching their fourth consecutive victory.
Revolution II will look to build on their impressive run when they travel down to Truist Point in High Point, North Carolina, to take on independent side Carolina Core FC on August 2.
Richie should give Porter tips on how to win soccer games.
Keep up the good work guys.
