New England Revolution midfielder Noel Buck is getting a lot of attention, but the 17-year-old is staying grounded.

Buck contributed 90 minutes in the Revolution’s 1-0 win over Charlotte FC on Saturday night. Playing alongside Matt Polster, he recorded team highs in interceptions (4) and tackles won (3). He almost had an assist but Henry Kessler’s attempt hit the woodwork.

On Tuesday, Buck reminisced about the moment while speaking to media, saying, “So close. I have that in my arsenal, so expect more of those.”

Moments like that have gotten people talking about the Homegrown product. J. Sam Jones of MLSSoccer.com noted that “Noel Buck can ball.” MLSSoccer.com’s Matt Doyle said that Buck is “looking like a written-in-pen starter.”

Buck earned a place on the bench for MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week after opening weekend and even had someone that made a reel of his best moments.

Buck’s talent is also being noticed by people outside of the United States. During the off-season, the Massachusetts native nearly trained with Tottenham FC of the English Premier League.

“It was obviously very exciting,” Buck said of the opportunity. “It’s a shame it didn’t work out. With the World Cup and all, it was hard to get a decent team to train with. I’m hoping I can do it next year.”

Buck told Tom Quinlan of WPRO that Tottenham reached out to his agent, who “took care of it from there.”

While Buck appreciates the positive attention, he knows there’s more work to be done.

“It’s obviously very nice but at the end of the day it was one game,” Buck said. “To really go anywhere in this sport, you have to be consistent and that’s what I’m going to plan to do.”

Buck’s next opportunity to see the field will be this Saturday when the Revs host the Houston Dynamo. The midfielder is humble, saying that he’s “very excited. Hoping to get some minutes and hoping to continue where I left off.”

Last year, Buck turned heads when he scored a left-footed goal against New York City FC at Gillette Stadium. He then proceeded to pump his arms while Taylor Swifts’ “Shake It Off” played on the stadium’s speakers.

Buck is hoping to score goals and offer assists this year. If he does find the back of the net, don’t expect to hear Swift as the local product has picked a new song that he’s keeping a secret.

“I’ll keep you guys guessing,” Buck said. “You’ll see. I’ve a wide range of music that I like, so we can switch it up.”
