The Revolution midfielder becomes first loan acquisition by RIFC
Rhode Island FC continued adding to their midfield on Friday as they announced the loan acquisition of Jack Panayotou from the New England Revolution. According to the New England Revolution’s press release, the loan is for the remainder of the 2024 season.
“Jack is a skilled and creative midfielder and we’re excited to bring him to our club,” said Rhode Island FC Head Coach and General Manager Khano Smith. “His ability to unlock a defense and create opportunities for himself and his teammates is extremely valuable. He’s a talented, young player with a lot of potential that will help out team on the field.”
Panayotou joined the New England Revolution Academy in 2019 and made an immediate impact as a key member of the Revolution U-19 team that won the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Championship.
After being named the 2022 Revolution Academy Player of the Year and playing at Georgetown University in the Fall of 2022, he was signed to a Homegrown Contract before the 2023 season.
Panayotou made 11 MLS appearances (two starts) in his rookie season, while also notching five goals and three assists in 13 matches played with Revolution II of MLS Next Pro.
So far in 2024, Panayotou has played 341 minutes across four starts with Revolution II, scoring three goals and providing one assist. He also made one appearance with the Revolution’s first team this season, coming off the bench against Toronto FC.
Panayotou becomes another ex-member of the Revolution Academy to join Rhode Island FC, joining Kevin Vang, Isaac Angking, and Joe Brito.
Great move for Jack, hope get gets serious minutes and does well. Clearly needed a new level above MLS Next Pro.
Yeah, this seems great for everyone involved. Hope he develops even further there!
