Nathan Messer Named to Week 9 USL League One Team of the Week
Messer becomes the first Hearts player featured on the league's Team of the Week.
After making history on Sunday with their Fitzpatrick Stadium debut, Week 9 of the USL League One season saw Portland Hearts of Pine make history again when the league announced its weekly awards.
Defender Nathan Messer became the first player in Portland Hearts of Pine history to feature on the USL League One Team of the Week. Messer’s inclusion comes after the defender clocked 90 minutes in Hearts’ come-from-behind draw against One Knoxville.
According to FotMob, Messer ended the match with four chances created, three shots, 74 touches, seven passes into the final third, seven corner kicks, one tackle won, one interception, five interceptions, and four duels won.
Forward Azaad Liadi and midfielder Masashi Wada, who made history on Sunday when he scored the first Hearts goal in Fitzpatrick Stadium history, were named to the bench.
Messer and Hearts of Pine return to action on May 10 when they hit the road to face Union Omaha.
