Latif Blessing And His Family Are Expected To Arrive in Boston On Monday
Bruce Arena: “Latif is going be very happy to have his family here with him in Boston. So, we’re pleased about that."
Latif Blessing had a good reason for missing Saturday’s 2-1 win over Sporting KC. He was in Ghana to complete the required paperwork for himself and his family. He’s expected back in New England on Monday, according to head coach Bruce Arena.
For the last five years, Blessing only saw his family once a year. He yearned for more, telling media in January, “I want to see them around me so I can be happy and play.” He added, “[The Revs organization] told me they’re going to help bring my family here, so I’m happy to be here.”
The family’s visas have been approved and Blessing will bring his family to the United States. The joyous occasion required the midfielder to miss this weekend’s game, but the club was happy to oblige.
“Well, you know, we try to do that every day around the club,” Arena said about helping players off the field. “Latif is going be very happy to have his family here with him in Boston. So, we’re pleased about that. I think he’ll be back in Boston on Monday. So, that’s a real positive.”
This is great for Latif. This is also a great look for the club. The Revs used to be at the top of the list of places players didn’t want to go. The way they’ve invested during the Arena years goes a long way to changing that perspective. I would think this type of care for players as people is noted around the league. It’s also the type of club I want to root for.
Happy for Latif .
