Former Revs Rumor: Burnley Interested in Tajon Buchanan
The former Revolution winger may be making the jump to the Premier League, which could bring some cash the Revs way.
Months after a reported move to Inter Milan never came to fruition, another European club is reportedly interested in acquiring former New England Revolution midfielder Tajon Buchanan.
According to Nieuwsblad’s Pieter-Jan Calcoen, former New York City FC and current Club Brugge manager Ronny Deila believes the club has “too many players” and will look to slim the roster. Calcoen reports that English Premier League side Burnley FC are interested in acquiring the 24-year-old Canadian winger. No official offer has come, but Burnley reportedly has their eye on Buchanan.
Buchanan joined Club Brugge in January 2022 after spending three years in New England. The former ninth overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft appeared in 67 matches for the Revs, where he notched 12 goals and 11 assists over 3,718 minutes and was pivotal to the Revolution’s Supporters’ Shield victory in his final season at the club.
Buchanan has appeared in 50 matches for Brugge, where he notched three goals and eight assists over 3,972 minutes. Buchanan’s move to Club Brugge was for a reported fee of $7 million. More importantly, they retained a 10% sell-on clause for the Canadian.
Again, no official bid has come, but it seems to be only a matter of time until Buchanan takes the next step in his career.
Thank you for the update. I was just saying last night that people forget we not only lost Turner, and Buksa, but also Buchanan. We loved watching him.
A little more money in the bank.
