Former Revs II Defender Pierre Cayet Signs With Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC
The French center back takes his talents to USL Championship following three seasons with Revolution II!
Former Revolution II defender Pierre Cayet is heading to the Steel City as the French center back inked a one-year deal with USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC through the 2024 USL Championship season with a one-year club option for 2025.
Despite immense talent and strong showings over his three seasons with the club, Pierre’s time with Revolution II concluded on November 3rd, 2023. Over three seasons with Revs II, Cayet made 70 appearances, where he tallied six goals and one assist over 5,949 minutes.
When talking with Sam Minton, Cayet revealed the decision to depart the club was mutual. After agreeing to return to Revs II for the 2023 season, Cayet told now Sporting Director Curt Onalfo that “it would be best at the end of the season if I don’t make it to the first team for some reason it would be better to part ways.”
Following another impressive MLS NEXT Pro campaign that saw Cayet notch two goals and an assist over 27 appearances, Onalfo told Cayet there wasn’t an international roster slot for him going into 2024. With no spot for him with the senior team, Cayet felt “it was best for me to move on.
Pittsburgh has been a landing spot for many former Revolution players in recent history. Cayet will join former Revs SuperDraft pick Edward Kizza, who will embark on his third season with the club. Pierre will also reconnect with former Revolution II defender Michael DeShields, who embarks on his second season with the club. Former Revs II midfielder Trevor Zwersloot also found his way to Pittsburgh for the 2023 season.
