I guess we'll have to see how this plays out. I'm of the mind that a good coach finds the best tactics that suit the strengths of his players and not have a rigid "system" that only certain players can play. I'm hugely skeptical that we'll see a significant improvement this year but would be happy to be proven wrong.
I will say it again: HOW do you put a professional team together in less than a month and expect success when the players have never played together? He WILL own this, or we will be like the players he transferred/sold - OUTTA HERE!
Ok, he put it on the bulletin board himself. Posted 1/12/25. ‘Give me the credit or give me the blame.’ Are we supposed to give him points for that? I don’t know.
Prove us wrong, man. Came into the team saying you had the right guys...why say that if you didn't mean it. And then proceed to put the blame on everyone else besides himself throughout the season. I hope he succeeds. If not, I hope he is fired quickly and the 2025 season isn't another disaster.
It's going to be a big lift to develop cohesion among a nearly-completely rebuilt squad, but that's what they wanted.
I will say that Porter, through no effort of his own, has a longer lifeline than he did at the end of last season. The quick firing of Jerrod Mayo, after less than a year in the job has brought the Krafts a lot of criticism. They aren't going to fuel that story by having a quick-trigger with Porter (unless things totally explode).
I was thinking about Mayo vs Porter. You could be right that they will be loathe to pull the trigger on firing Porter quickly. Can we find a Vrabel equivalent in MLS?

Caleb Porter, frank truth-teller?
So the first year of non-stop lying is to be treated as a mulligan?
The new players all hold some inner core of special Porter-obeying magic quality?
The Revs better get off to some record-setting Blazing Musket start to support this degree of coaching self-advertisement.
Special Porter-obeying magic quality! Perfect description!

I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t expect much from a high school coach coaching in the big leagues.
