Boston Legacy FC Signs Canadian Defender
“We’re a blank canvas, so we can shape it however we want it.”
The Boston Legacy is getting right to business this year, announcing free agent Bianca St-Georges as its latest signing.
The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Legacy and will join the team during preseason this month.
“The fact that it’s a new club, that I get to participate in the expansion of a new team, that I can set the tone for the culture, that I get to work with experienced staff members, that we really can build from scratch - that is very exciting to me,” said St-Georges. “We’re a blank canvas, so we can shape it however we want it.”
St-Georges is from Quebec and was a defender at West Virginia University, where she was named the 2015 Big 12 Freshman of the Year then the 2018 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
The Chicago Stars drafted her in the 2019 collegiate draft, though she did not make her debut until 2020 due to injury. The Stars named her the 2020 Rookie of the Year after she played all nine games and totaled 13 clearances, 18 successful tackles, and three blocks. The same year she helped her team make it to the Challenge Cup final then to the league final the following season.
The Canadian joined the North Carolina Courage in 2024, recording three goals and one assist in 22 appearances. This past season, she joined the Utah Royals, once again scoring three goals in 22 appearances. She has played as a right back, winger, and forward throughout her NWSL tenure.
“We’re really excited to welcome Bianca to Boston. She brings valuable NWSL experience, international pedigree with Canada, and a versatility that fits well with the way we want to play. Her understanding of the league and ability to adapt will be important as we continue to build,” said Legacy general manager Domè Guasch. “Having experienced different environments in the NWSL, Bianca is at a point in her career where she can provide consistency and leadership to our group, both on and off the field.”
St-Georges made her senior Canada National Team debut in 2021 and has since had 15 appearances. She was part of Canada’s youth program for nearly ten years and played in two youth World Cups with the U-17 and U-20 team.
