He's a great guy and has been a great player for the Revs. But it was very apparent in the limited playing time that he had at the end of the season that his best days are behind him. Those last couple home games where he subbed in felt like he was getting the proper send off. I don't see how having him on the roster gets the Revs closer to the playoffs.
He's no longer a starter or even the first pick off the bench but I think he's a great locker room guy. If there is no room for him on the 2026 open roster, then so be it. There is no harm in keeping a longer term club player for now.
I don’t get it. Fans that think this is beneficial don’t seem to value talent and winning. He should have been off the roster 5 years ago. If he’s valued as a mentor, make him a coach full time. I’d rather take a flyer on a 23 year old.
I truly don’t think getting another random backup defender on our roster in a supplemental slot would make a big difference. This is not the make or break slot on our roster.
I’d rather give a young guy a shot to prove himself than to an old vet who can’t play anymore. Imagine this scenario on the Patriots or Red Sox. It’s unfathomable to waste a roster spot on someone who can’t perform at this level anymore.
Great comment by the new coach! Sure hope we see Farrell out there more often, brings so much energy to the stadium.
